Tragedy as man dies in Great Coates Road crash

A man has tragically died following a crash on Great Coates Road in Grimsby last night, Saturday 3 February. 

Officers were called to the scene at around 11:40 yesterday evening following reports that a grey BMW 1 series was travelling towards Great Coates before colliding with a pedestrian. The road was closed for most of the night, and has reopened within the last hour.

The pedestrian, a 30-year-old man, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

A 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst over the prescribed limit. He remains in police custody.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or has CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist with our enquiries to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 625 of 3 February. Alternatively you can report information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
