Drunk driver released on bail after fatal crash

A man who was arrested following a fatal road traffic collision on Great Coates Road over the weekend has been released on bail.

Officers were called to the scene at around 11:40 on Saturday 3 February following reports that a grey BMW 1 series was travelling towards Great Coates before colliding with a pedestrian. The road was closed for most of the night.

The pedestrian, a 30-year-old man, sadly sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst over the prescribed limit. 

Now, in their latest update, a spokesperson for Humberside Police confirmed that the suspect had been released on bail. 

They said: “The 38-year-old man has been released on bail with conditions whilst our enquiries continue. We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or has CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist with our enquiries to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 625 of 3 February. Alternatively you can report information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
