A fundraiser has been launched to help pay for the funeral of a man who was killed in a crash in Immingham last week.
Police were called to the B1210 Habrough Road, Immingham on Tuesday 30 January following reports of a serious road traffic incident. It is believed that a white Volkswagen LT35 van was travelling towards Immingham before colliding with a pedestrian between the junctions of Brocklesby Avenue and Calder Close at around 8.50pm.
The victim, later named as 19-year-old Lewis Tuson, was taken to hospital to receive medical treatment but sadly died from his injuries a day later.
Daniel Johnsen, 34, of Ashtree Close, Immingham was charged with driving above the alcohol level limit. Following Lewis’ death, Johnsen was also charged with causing death by dangerous driving and remanded into custody.
Paying tribute to Lewis, his mum said: “Lewis wasn’t just my son, he was my best friend. He was kind, so smart and just an all-around lovely person. He was an amazing big brother and friend, and we will all miss him dearly”.
Now, Lewis’ mum has launched a fundraiser in the hope of gathering financial support for his funeral. She added: “I have set up this page to help give my son the best funeral possible. Lewis was a 19 year old happy, caring boy who would do anything for anybody. He had his full life ahead of him. Lewis was not only my son but my best friend too.”
Humberside Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses. A spokesperson said: “We continue to appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time or has CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist with our enquiries to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 482 of 30 January. Alternatively you can report information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
