Wanted man in custody after Great Coates Road incident

A wanted man has been arrested following an ‘altercation’ on Great Coates Road in Grimsby yesterday evening, Wednesday 7 February.

Police were called to the scene at around 19:30 following reports of a verbal altercation and an assault. According to reports, a group of men known to each other entered the Jubilee Inn on St Nicholas Drive where the incident occurred.

One of the men is then believed to have left the pub in a vehicle and parked up along Great Coates Road. Three others then followed the man in another vehicle and are reported to have hit him with a bottle before fleeing the scene.

As first reported by Gi Grimsby News, a scene guard and road closure was put in place while officers including detectives and Scenes of Crime officers investigated to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

One man, aged 20, was taken to hospital to receive treatment for a head injury which is not believed to be serious at this time. He was later found to be wanted in connection with another incident and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of failing to appear.

He remains in police custody.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “We would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident or anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist with our enquiries, to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 466 of 7 February. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
