‘Campbells Cakery’ opens in Cleethorpes

A new independent bakery and desert shop has opened on Cleethorpes’ Short Street today, Friday 9 February.

Campbells Cakery was first established back in 2018 following the success of Seven Tea Four Tea Rooms, its sister business in Immingham. The owners say they quickly discovered a demand for bespoke cakes, and decided to open their new Cleethorpes store in a building which was previously used as an accountants and J.W. Burkitt & Son Butcher.

The shop serves a range of homemade cakes, ice creams, milkshakes, smoothies, barista coffee hot drinks, and boasts a build your own cheesecake’ bar.

Speaking to Gi Grimsby News, owner Steph explained that the shop has been in the works for the past several years. She said: “It’s been a long time coming. We make all of our cakes ourselves, we have a cake cabinet with things ranging from cookies to brownies, blondies, but we are also doing something a little bit different – a cheesecake station where you can build your own cheesecake! You can choose your own biscuit, filling and toppings, it’s something a little bit different, so we’re thinking it could be quite popular.

“Social media is really good because everybody has been asking us when we’re opening the building, ranging back to around two years ago, that’s how long its taken us. Everyone is asking when you’re opening all the time which has been really nice. We’re excited to be opening for everybody now, hopefully people will come down!”
