Two men have been arrested after reports of a car theft over the weekend.

Police were notified of the theft on Friday 16 February, and then again on Saturday 17 February, following reports of a vehicle having been taken without permission from West Street in Cleethorpes.

Officers from the Roads Policing Crime team later spotted the car on Corporation Road on Sunday 18 February. Two people, a 43-year-old man and 31-year-old man, were followed and ‘swiftly arrested’ on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

The 43-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of using a motor vehicle without insurance, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a license and theft from a shop in connection with another incident.

Both have been released on bail while the investigation continues.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “We would appeal to anyone who has information, or has CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist with our enquiries to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 249 of 18 February.
