Fire crews called to blaze in Cleethorpes

Emergency services are in attendance at a residential property in Cleethorpes today after a fire broke out in the early hours of this morning, Monday 26 February.

Humberside Fire and Rescue were called to Neville Street at around 01:00 this morning, following reports of a blaze at a house.

Firefighters were on scene within six minutes and quickly put out the fire. Police also attended and a scene guard was out in place. Scenes of Crime officers have been present throughout the day. 

According to a spokesperson for Humberside Fire & Rescue, the fire began in the living room of the ground floor flat and spread through the property. The occupier was alerted and was thankfully able to get out of the property before crews. Firefighters entered the property to rescue the occupant’s dog, who was given oxygen therapy.

A fire investigation is now underway. 

A spokesperson for the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call to a fire on Neville Street in Cleethorpes after 1am on 26 February. Firefighters were on scene within six minutes and quickly put out the fire.

“The fire started in the living room of the ground floor flat and spread through the property. The occupier was alerted and got out of the property before we arrived and firefighters rescued their dog, who was given oxygen therapy.

“Residents of the surrounding flats had all gotten out and everyone was OK. Neighbouring flats suffered from smoke logging which our firefighters ventilated. Fire investigation is ongoing.”
