Cleethorpes murder suspect released on bail

A man who was arrested on suspicion of the 1983 murder of Olive Wilkinson has been released on conditional bail, Humberside Police have confirmed.

36-year-old Olive Wilkinson was discovered dead at her home on Montague Street, Cleethorpes, on Friday 10 June 1983.

A murder investigation was launched but the case has remained unsolved with no recent leads until last week, when a 63-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

He has since been released on conditional bail.

Officers are continuing their investigation and have been seen searching a series of properties across the Cleethorpes area. They say a number of new lines of enquiry are being explored.

Speak yesterday, Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Amy Keane-Christie said: “Over the course of the last eight days, my team of specialist trained detectives have been continuing to progress the investigation.

“As a part of that work, I am pleased that following our renewed appeal for information and at the conclusion of our searches, a number of new lines of enquiry are now being explored in connection with Olive’s murder.

“Whilst these are ongoing, I hope the release of Olive’s photo may help people remember her. I would still appeal to anybody who has any information, no matter how small, that thinks it may assist our investigation in some way, to please get in touch with us”.
