‘Investigation underway’ after fire breaks out in Cleethorpes

Humberside Fire and Rescue have launched an investigation after an electrical fire broke out at the Liberal Democrat’s office on Kingsway in Cleethorpes yesterday afternoon, Friday 31 May.

Fire crews arrived on scene shortly before 2PM. The blaze was extinguished, but according to reports it reignited a short while later forcing them to return. The office and the neighbouring Kingsway Club was evacuated for several hours as a precaution.

Now, Humberside Fire and Rescue has confirmed that an investigation has been launched.

A spokesperson for the organisation said: “Humberside Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 1.41pm to attend a fire at a commercial property on Kingsway, Cleethorpes.

“Crews were swiftly on scene within 6 minutes, and we sent three fire engines and an aerial ladder platform to respond.

“The service has now left the scene and can confirm this was an electrical fire from the electric meter located on the outside of the building. Fire investigation is underway.”
