Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway to host Summer Steam Festival

Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway is inviting visitors to attend the “Summer Steam Festival” this July on the 13th and 14th.

The celebrations include a special naming ceremony led by the Mayor of North East Lincolnshire, Steve Beasant, and the commemoration of the refurbishment of the resident No.5 locomotive with delegates from Cleethorpes’ twinned town, Konigswinter.

Also attending the event, along with visitors, will be the locomotives ‘Sian’ and ‘Badger’ from Whistlestop Valley.

In a statement issued to Gi Grimsby News, the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway explained, “For those eager to explore, Lakeside Station will host a captivating display of miniature traction engines and vintage vehicles, including buses, coaches, and cars, complemented by classic attractions such as crazy golf, a drive-it-yourself tram tailored for our younger enthusiasts, and an exhibition showing off the history of the railway.”

Director Peter Bryant commented, “We are thrilled to kick off the summer season with the return of this magical festival. It really offers visitors the chance to immerse themselves in the enchanting world of steam travel.

“As well as the trains, this year we are delighted to introduce more live entertainment throughout the weekend and a large selection of vintage vehicles -there’s really something for everyone to enjoy and we cannot wait.”

The service asks visitors to plan their journey on the 13th and 14th, with trains departing from 10:00 a.m. onwards, and can secure their place for the price of £14.95 with a “special day rover ticket”.
