Docks Beers launches new beer in aid of Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance

Docks Beers has launched a new beer in aid of the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance (LNAA) to celebrate the charity’s 30th year of operation.

The LNAA is one of the UK’s leading Helicopter Emergency Service charities and can bring the equivalent of a hospital emergency department to patients at a scene, giving those with the most severe injuries and conditions the very best chance of survival when minutes matter.

Coupled with this is the fact that, when minutes matter, speed is key. The top-of-the-range AgustaWestland 169 helicopter can travel at speeds of up to 216 mph, cruise comfortably at 180 mph, and can be deployed to the furthest reaches of its operational area in 20 minutes or less.

With this in mind and to celebrate the 30th year of operations, the specially crafted beer, named “HELIHOPTER”, is a 3.4% pale ale created in the Docks Beers’ taproom and is available in twenty-five pubs and restaurants around Lincolnshire and Nottingham.

The beer pump badge, designed and illustrated by Docks Beers’ creative agency of choice, Source 4, features an Air Ambulance with two crew.

Joe Harper, LNAA Corporate Partnerships Manager, said: “To celebrate our 30th Anniversary, we are proud to announce this limited-edition charity beer, HELIHOPTER, specially crafted by the brewers at Docks.

“With a donation from every cask sold, the pubs selling HELIHOPTER are helping our doctors and paramedics provide emergency medical care to critically ill or injured patients when they need us most. We want to thank all the pubs and customers who are getting behind this beer.”

Kate Douglas, Comms Lead at Docks Beers, commented “We were honoured to be chosen by LNAA to brew this beer. Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance is essential to our community as they fly A&E care directly to patients and respond to the most serious of incidents across our region. We have team members and friends who have had direct experience of being treated by their crews, and I am pleased to say they are the Docks Beers chosen charity for 2024.

“In addition to donations from HELIHOPTER, some of our team will be fundraising by completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge on June 23rd, and the Grimsby 10k race. We are also organising a cycling Ride Out from Docks Beers on Sunday 14th July. We will welcome the LNAA team to our live music festival DocksFest in July to collect donations and speak to members of the public.

Kate added: “Some of our staff, including myself have visited the LNAA Lincolnshire’s headquarters and it was an honour to meet the crew and see their work in action. It’s great to know that the funds we give will contribute to the very much needed emergency work that they do. Please buy a pint of HELIHOPTER and you will be helping LNAA’s medical team provide pre-hospital critical care to the people of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.”

Mike Richards, Head Brewer at Docks Beers, explained “This pale ale is one of our best cask beers to date and we’re delighted to see it being ordered by pubs across two counties. We have even had a couple of orders from Yorkshire. HELIHOPTER is gold in colour and bursting with fruity hoppy aromas, with hints of lychee, pine and orange.

“It’s eminently drinkable with a subtle bitterness, medium body and a sweetness from the slightly higher finishing gravity. A foundation of Lager, Wheat, Vienna and Caramalt in the grist with Saaz, Hallertau Blanc and Citra hops create a distinctly smooth, hoppy beer.”

HELIHOPTER can be purchased from the Docks Beers taproom or in pubs such as the Royal British Legion in Laceby, the Tilted Barrel in Waltham, the Old Vic or the Signal Box Inn in Cleethorpes, as well as many others across the two areas of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
