Full road closures in place along A18 for resurfacing works

Lincolnshire County Council has announced that the next stage of the works on the A18 to make Barton Street a “smoother, better, improved road” is commencing with full road closures in place.

Work began on Wednesday, 12th, and is planned to end on June 21st.

For Saturday, June 15th, and Sunday, June 16th, a full road closure will be in place. After this, the road will be closed from 06:00 to 20:00 on Monday, June 17th, and Tuesday, June 18th.

A diversion route is in place and is as follows: “A1173 to A46 Grimsby Road, Caistor Road, Grimsby Road roundabout, and vice versa.”

Karen Cassar, assistant director for highways, said, “It’s great news that our long-planned resurfacing works on the A18 Barton Street at Riby can go ahead.

“This is a lot of work to undertake, and it will cost in excess of £500,000 to deliver, but, when completed, it will make a very big difference for everyone who uses the route.”

She added, “We have found a way to limit the amount of time a full road closure is in place and are able to only have the full restriction active across the weekend starting on Friday, June 14.

“For the rest of the works, at the end of each shift where possible, we will lift our equipment as part of our overall commitment to keep traffic flow disruption to as minimal as possible.

“The improvement to the road surface will be very obvious, and these works will give the road itself many more years of life, too.

“We will get the programme of work completed as quickly as possible, and I would like to thank everyone affected by these works for their patience and understanding during these improvement works.”
