Roads surrounding Grimsby Town Hall to close for election count

Several roads in the vicinity of Grimsby Town Hall will be closed today, Thursday 4 July, while the General Election count gets underway.

Temporary parking and traffic restrictions are being put in place in order to facilitate the counts for Great Grimsby & Cleethorpes and Brigg & Immingham.

Parking next to the Doughty Learning Centre side of the Town Hall has been restricted from Wednesday morning and is due to reopen on Friday morning.

From approximately 9PM today, roads around the town hall will also be closed to general traffic until approximately midnight.

Town Hall Street will be closed to all traffic. Town Hall Square and East Street will also be closed except for election access, however there will be access at the rear of the Municipal Offices.

While these closures are in place, there are additional changes around the rear of the town hall to help traffic flow. This includes reversal of the one-way operations on Pasture St between Victoria St West and East Street, and two-way vehicle movements on East Street.

North East Lincolnshire Council has stated that all restrictions and changes will be lifted “as soon as practically possible.”
