‘Unstable’ tree forces closure of busy Grimsby street

A road closure is in place in Grimsby this morning due to a destabilised tree, at risk of falling on the road.

Earlier this morning, North East Lincolnshire Council notified of an unstable tree, resulting in the need of a road closure between Westward Ho and Weelsby Road, Bargate.

This morning, Friday 23 August, a NELC spokesperson stated the high winds have destabilised a tree near Bargate Avenue, which is at risk of falling on the road.

It is understood the road closure will be going in around 9.30am.

North East Lincolnshire Council stated:

“We have a tree surgeon on site to deal with the tree, and we will aim to re-open the road as soon as it’s safe (currently expected to be around lunchtime).

“We’re sorry for the disruption this will cause – localised diversions will be in place for the duration of the works.”
