The Army will be rolling into Grimsby in October so that residents can meet serving members and learn all about the operations of the force, with the chance to talk to a serving Lieutenant Colonel.
Individuals across the borough are encouraged to book their spot at the Army Engagement Group event at Grimsby Town Hall on Wednesday, October 9th, where they can meet a variety of serving personnel who will discuss a range of topics about the Army, what they do, and how they contribute to our society.
The evening’s proceedings will commence at 6:30 PM, where guests will be welcomed by the group, with refreshments on offer too. Following on from this will be a presentation from a Lieutenant Colonel at 7:00 PM.
After the presentation, the buffet will commence, marking the end of the event, but it will also serve as an opportunity for members of the public to speak to the Army Engagement Group.
In conjunction with the proceedings will be a medal presentation where local reservists will receive the King’s Coronation Medal. The medal acts as a ‘thank you’ to all those who have served in the Armed Forces for over 5 years or helped during the Coronation of King Charles III.
Speaking ahead of the event, Portfolio Holder for Safer and Stronger Communities, Councillor Ron Shepherd, said, “This is a great opportunity for residents both young and old to understand what the role of the Army really is.
“They are an integral part of the security of our nation, and it is a pleasure to welcome them to North East Lincolnshire.”
Sergeant Mat Hardy, Regimental Mentoring Support Officer, 4 Lincolnshire Company, 3 Royal Anglian, added, “I am excited to announce that the Army Engagement Group, with 3 Royal Anglian, your local Army Reserve Uni, are coming to Grimsby Town Hall.
“On the 9th of October, they will hold a presentation for the public to help showcase what the Army does, who we are, and how we contribute to society.
“You will have the rare chance to ask a serving Lieutenant Colonel any questions you want about the Army of today and the future. The evening will conclude with a presentation of King Charles III Coronation Medals to Royal Anglian Reservists from Grimsby by the Mayor of North East Lincolnshire and a free buffet. This is a unique opportunity to get to know the Army firsthand, so don’t miss out.”
