The owners of one of North East Lincolnshire’s best-loved attractions is appealing to the public for help to remain open due to financial difficulties.
Nunny’s Farm, located on Wooton Road, is completely self funded. Like many individuals and local businesses it has been hit hard in recent years due to ever-increasing costs and difficult weather conditions.
A fundraiser has now been launched in the hopes of raising £40,000 to cover running costs and keep the farm open to the public.
Describing their current situation, Farmer Joanna Holbrook-Morris wrote: “We need your help to keep Nunny’s Farm open. 2024 has been difficult year, financially, for everyone and Nunny’s Farm is no exception.
“Relentless bad weather and flooding has stopped many visitors reaching the farm, coupled with the rising costs of everyday products, our reserves have been drained. We’re now reaching out to you, the community, to help us raise £40,000 so we can keep our gates open and continue providing our unique blend of education, community engagement, and care.”
She continued: “Nunny’s Farm is here for the community; for children to enjoy time with the animals, learning to engage and care for another creature. For adults to clear their minds and improve their sense of worth whilst being in nature.
“We rescue many abandoned pets and take in unwanted farm animals, giving them a safe haven so that they can see out their days in a loving environment.”
The farm has also announced plans to stay open over winter the winter season in a bid to bring in additional income. Weather permitting, it will be open between 10AM and 3PM throughout Autumn and Winter.
