Tragedy as woman dies in house fire

A woman has sadly died after a house in Grimsby caught fire yesterday, Tuesday 12 November.

Emergency services were called to Sherwood Road in Grimsby following reports of a fire at around 8.15PM yesterday, Tuesday 12 November. 

The road was closed for several hours while fire crews tackled the blaze. The fire was extinguished, and a woman who was inside the property was provided with medical assistance before being taken to hospital to receive treatment.

Sadly, despite the efforts of emergency services, the woman died a short while later.

A scene guard remains in place and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. 

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “A scene guard remains in place whilst officers work with the fire service to establish the cause of the fire, however at this time, there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

“If anyone has any information that may be able to assist with our investigation, please contact us on our non-emergency number 101, quoting log 478 of 12 November.”
