The NHS Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Freshney Place is now expected to open this Spring, after delays pushed back the original timeline.
Work began in early 2024 to transform five shop units into a health centre, aimed at providing the public with a range of non-urgent diagnostic tests. North East Lincolnshire Council says this will allow patients to access necessary diagnoses without having to travel to a hospital.
Initially, there had been plans to open the centre in Autumn 2024. A Freshney Place representative has since said that it will open this Spring, stating that the project emphasises “the aspiration of the Council to create a mixed-use destination for the community, combining retail and leisure with services at the one site.”
According to North East Lincolnshire Council, the centre will help the NHS provide over 150,000 additional diagnostic appointments each year, helping to reduce waiting lists.
