Tragedy as body found in search for missing man

The body of a 55-year-old man who went missing in December 2024 has been recovered from the River Hull.

Richard was reported missing after he disappeared on Monday, 30 December, prompting a search across the Hull and Beverley areas.

Emergency services were called to the river not far from Eske, on Sunday 9 February, following reports a man’s body had been seen in the water.

Tragically, authorities have now confirmed that the man has been formally identified as Richard.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Yesterday, Sunday, 9 February, emergency services were alerted that a man’s body had been seen in the River Hull not far from Eske.

“The body was recovered from the water and formal identification has now taken place, and we can confirm it is that of missing man Richard from Molescroft who was last seen on Monday, 30 December.

“Specialist trained officers have updated Richard’s family and are providing support. Our thoughts are with them and Richard’s loved ones and friends at this incredibly sad time

“A post-mortem examination will take place in the coming days however at this time, there is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”
