Pancake Day Race returns to Grimsby!

The annual Pancake Day Race has returned to Grimsby!

The community event began several years ago following a collaboration between Grimsby Minster and St James Hotel. It has since become an annual community event, with the tradition dating back to 1445 elsewhere.

Groups of locals joined the Mayor, Councillor Steve Beasant, in the town centre today, Tuesday 4 March, to take part in the pancake-flipping relay race.

The race has been unable to run in recent years due to a combination of the pandemic and organisational difficulties, but there are hopes it will now return as an annual fixture on Grimsby’s events calendar.
