MP praises emergency services after North Sea collision

Melanie Onn, MP for Grimsby and Cleethorpes, has praised emergency services for their swift response after a ship and tanker collided in the North Sea.

A total of 32 people were brought to shore via Grimsby following an extensive search involving the RNLI, HM Coastguard, and local vessels. Emergency crews were on standby at Grimsby Docks to receive casualties and provide immediate care.

In total, 36 people were rescued as a result of the operation – one person is in hospital. Sadly, another remains missing.

Melanie Onn has praised them for their “swift and professional response in managing the situation.”

She said: “I am deeply concerned about the oil tanker collision near the coastline of Great Grimsby and Cleethorpes.

“This is a rapidly evolving situation, and my thoughts are with all those affected.

“I extend my gratitude to the emergency services for their swift and professional response in managing the situation.

“I continue to monitor developments closely and I remain in constant contact with the Government as we work swiftly to assess the impact and ensure appropriate action is taken.

“I will share updates as soon as more details become available.”
