North East Lincolnshire buses outperform big cities in new report

A recent report commissioned by an independent transport watchdog has revealed North East Lincolnshire buses are rated above some major cities in customer satisfaction.

The organisation responsible for the report, Transport Focus, surveyed bus customers in 2024 and found that 87% of them were happy with their journey on buses across North East Lincolnshire.

This result places the borough at rank 14 out of 39 in terms of local authorities, meaning it placed higher than the areas containing Liverpool and Manchester.

Factors that participants were surveyed on included value for money, driver friendliness and punctuality of buses, nearly all of which improved on last year’s results.

Furthermore, the report found that 29% of bus passengers choose to utilise the service to commute to work, the most popular reason for using it.

This was just a percent ahead of shopping, the next most popular reason.

Overall, the most common positive themes amongst passengers were the punctuality of buses and their experience with the driver.

For many, using the bus was both a cheaper and more convenient option than travelling by car.

Matt Cranwell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “We’re incredibly proud that once again Stagecoach East Midlands has performed well in a recent survey. We consistently strive to ensure that our buses, our routes, and our driving team provide the best experience and service for our customers.

“To rank higher than large cities and regions is truly an achievement our staff can be proud of, and we’ll continue to improve where possible for the benefit of our customers.”
