A deer has been rescued and safely released after becoming stuck in a fence in Grimsby.
The incident occurred yesterday, Thursday 10 April, when Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue and Humberside Fire and Rescue were alerted by a concerned employee at a nearby business.
Firefighters from the Green Watch team at Peaks Lane were quick to respond and were already on the scene by the time wildlife volunteers arrived.
According to Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue, the crew had “expertly freed the deer and were doing a fantastic job of keeping them calm and safe.”
In a heartfelt social media post, the organisation thanked both the public and emergency services for their swift actions, adding that the deer had been “only briefly trapped and fortunately suffered just minor abrasions.”
The animal was released back into the wild shortly after being rescued.
A spokesperson for Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue added: “On the 10th April 2025 our rescue was called to Church Lane, where a local business had witnessed a deer get stuck in their fence. Fortunately, Green Watch from Peaks Lane, Humberside Fire and Rescue was already on the scene when we attended and the deer had been safely removed and no further intervention was necessary from our team.“
