After being closed for around 18 months, Keelby Youth Centre is set to reopen, bringing new opportunities for young people in the area.
Anna Crombie-Addison, founder of the CIC Artybeanz, has announced she will be taking on the role of Youth Leader at the centre.
She told Gi Grimsby News that Artybeanz was developed to “help with community spirit, social and emotional well-being, art for all, and to provide the community with art groups that reduce stress and promote relaxation.”
Now, in a new venture, Anna plans to relaunch the youth centre and build on the success of the sessions she has been running at Scartho Community Library.
Anna said her aim is to provide a space for children in Keelby and surrounding areas that fosters “social and emotional enrichment.”
The relaunched centre will offer a range of activities including crafts, art, design, games, and sports – each month featuring a different theme.
Entry is £2 per session, with all proceeds going back into supporting Keelby Youth Centre. A tuck shop will also be available.
Two groups will be launched as part of the programme:
•Keelby Kidstars Club: Thursdays, 5:30pm – 7:00pm for children aged 6–10
•Keelby Nextgen: Thursdays, 7:00pm – 8:30pm for those aged 10–16
“I love watching children develop confidence in social settings. When they first come in, they’re shy and full of doubt. Within just an hour, they evolve into bouncy little happy souls, excited to return,” Anna said.
Speaking about her plans for the older age group, she added:“I’m hoping to do community-focused projects—like looking after their environment, group work, and local projects such as doing up a park.”
