Plans unveiled for new seafront apartment block

Plans have been unveiled for a new three-storey apartment block on Cleethorpes seafront.

Currently, the property at the junction of the North Promenade and Sea Road houses a nightclub and bar, but could be redeveloped to include nine residential spaces for long-term residents and short-term holiday lets.

If approved, the ground floor of the property would contain a kiosk-style shop on the ground floor.

A planning application submitted to North East Lincolnshire Council said: “The Sea Road Apartments development is designed to address the pressing need for affordable housing in Cleethorpes while also accommodating the growing demand for short-term rentals, particularly from tourists.

“The intention is to create a balanced residential community that supports both local residents and seasonal visitors such as Airbnb.

“By allowing short-term rentals, we can contribute to the local economy by attracting tourists who will support local businesses and services.”

A decision is expected by June.
