Dangerous drivers caught on camera in Humberside area

Numerous dangerous drivers have been caught on camera in recent footage revealed by Humberside Police.

As part of Operation Snap, road users can upload their own dash cam footage to the force’s online portal to expose unsafe drivers.

In the video, a driver of a black BMW was seen brake checking another vehicle on a dual carriageway, earning them a fine of £740 and eight points on their license.

Additionally, a grey Vauxhall was reported after it drove on the wrong side of the road and almost collided with another vehicle, earning the driver five points and a fine of £222.

Other offences included drivers clearly violating speed limits and some even dangerously overtaking in built-up areas, earning that driver a 12-month disqualification and a fine of £334.

Operation Snap covers driving offences with the desired outcome of “making our roads safer”, including but not limited to dangerous driving, careless driving, usage of mobile phones while driving, ignoring traffic lights, disregarding solid white lines, close passes of cyclists, and violation of school zigzag lines.

The operation adheres to the motto, “It takes seconds to cause an accident.” It takes seconds to help prevent an accident” and will see officers from the force review the footage and any statement you may have made and will proceed to investigate before officers from the Humberside Police Central Ticket Office serve fines to drivers.

Also as part of the operation, the One Second campaign aims to encourage drivers to consider their actions carefully when driving.

The campaign says: “In the last twelve months alone, 32 people have lost their lives on our roads, with many more suffering life-changing injuries. That’s 32 families shattered, 32 friends lost, 32 empty chairs at dinner tables and 32 futures stolen in one second. All because of a moment’s recklessness, distraction, or poor decision-making behind the wheel.”
