All children to go to preferred school in ‘unprecedented’ allocation decision

An ‘unprecedented’ year of school applications has led to every parent being able to send their child to their preferred school.

Parents and carers of children who are due to start at infants or primary school received the good news on National Offer Day early this week, where 100% of the 1354 applications received were allocated their first choice of school.

Any late applications or changes to previously submitted applications will be considered at a second round of allocation in Ma 2025.

The results are up from last year, where 99.36% of 1398 applications were allocated their first preference of school.

Of the small percentage who did not get their first preference, only 0.14% of applicants were not offered any of their preferred schools and were allocated a place at their catchment or next nearest school with availability.

Parents who applied online will have been notified by email, with anyone who applied otherwise, such as with a paper application form, will have been notified by post.

Councillor Margaret Cracknell, portfolio holder for children and education at North East Lincolnshire Council, said:

“I’m really pleased to see that all of our parents and carers have been allocated their preferred place for their child.

We know that the allocation of school places can be quite a complex task, so this is a fantastic achievement and I congratulate the admissions team on their great work.
