Grimsby student hopes to become Young Risotto Chef of the Year

A professional cookery student from Grimsby has headed to take part in the regional finals of the Young Risotto Chef of the Year competition.

Today, Professional Cookery student, Morgan Robinson, has headed to Leeds
College to participate in the finals of the competition.

Each year, Riso Gallo, Europe’s premier grain specialists, search for young chefs (aged 17-23) who can ‘inject personality, passion and creativity to create a vibrant, exciting dish.’

Emphasising sustainability and reducing food waste, Morgan hopes to impress with this risotto recipe.

Regarding the competition, he said:

“I’m very happy to get into the competition. It is an amazing opportunity and experience. Risso Gallo is a leader in rice production: they use sustainable farming techniques and treat
their farmers well. I wish everyone who enters the best of luck!”

Chef Zack Feve, Hospitality Programme leader, who will accompany Morgan, said:

“We’re incredibly proud of Morgan here at the Grimsby Institute. Competitions like these provide an amazing experience and opportunities for our students. I’m wishing Morgan the
best of luck and can’t wait to see him in action!”
