The long-awaited opening of Cleethorpes’ new RNLI lifeboat station will take place this summer.
As previously reported, construction on the multi-million-pound build began three years ago in April 2022. Once complete, the new lifeboat station will provide the capability to position a second lifeboat and enable the charity to respond more quickly, in a wider range of weather conditions, to a larger variety of incidents.
Recent months have seen major construction milestones completed, such as the installation of the roof and signage.
Now, the RNLI has confirmed that official opening ceremonies are expected to take place this summer, with the team set to start moving into their new base next month.
Matt McNally, RNLI Press Officer, previously told Gi Grimsby News that the team are “excited to move in”, stating that “a high profile build like this in such a high profile location its always going to get a lot of attention. We love talking to people about it and telling people how’s it’s progressing.“
