A donation drive is underway at Harbour Place, a Grimsby-based charity committed to supporting people experiencing homelessness.
Located on Hope Street, the charity offers overnight accommodation for up to 15 individuals each night, with plans to expand its facilities in the near future.
However, as the cost of living continues to rise, demand for the charity’s night shelter is surpassing capacity. Volunteers say more people are turning to their services than they’re currently able to accommodate.
Harbour Place is now appealing for donations of sleeping bags to help support rough sleepers across North East Lincolnshire.
Jessica Burnette, Community Engagement Officer, previously told Gi Grimsby News:
“The growing demand for our services from rough sleepers currently exceeds our Night Shelter capacity.
“In addition to one-to-one support, we work hard to make sure those sleeping on the streets have access to essential items to stay warm and safe.
“Good-quality sleeping bags remain in high demand among our service users—even in the warmer months.
“That’s why we’re inviting the community to support our initiative. Together, we can ensure no one has to face the harshness of the elements without this vital support.”
Donations can be dropped off at Harbour Place today, Thursday 1 May, between 12PM and 3PM.
