Man arrested as shop targeted in overnight burglary 

A man has been arrested after a betting shop in Grimsby was targeted in an overnight burglary.

Police were called to the Betfred on Park Street at around 2.30am today, Thursday 1 May, to reports of two men using tools including a screwdriver and a trowel to attempt to gain entry to the shop before fleeing the scene. 

Following an area search discovered a suspect hiding in a nearby garden. A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary and criminal damage.

He remains in police custody whilst officers continue with enquiries.

Humberside Police are now appealing for information.

A spokesperson said: “We would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time and has any CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist with our enquiries, to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number 25*59007. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
