David Artell has shared his thoughts ahead of Grimsby’s final game of the season against AFC Wimbledon tomorrow.
With a sell-out crowd expected, fans will be anxious for the final result, as a win would guarantee the Mariners a place in the League Two play-offs.
Speaking to the Grimsby Town Media Team, Head Coach David Artell highlighted how critical the fanbase will be for this crucial League Two clash.
He said, “I appreciate, even though we are where we are, times are still tough economically. And I know for a lot of people it’s still hard going. So to come and support us, we’re extremely thankful for it. I just hope that, one, we give them something to cheer about, but two, they also understand where we are, that bigger picture.
“We saw last week at MK Dons the best chance of the whole game coming in the 93rd minute. And that could be the same Saturday.”
He continued, “So it only takes one second and it might be the last few seconds. And hopefully, like I say, we get over the line because we’re going to need them all. All them fans creating a raucous atmosphere.
“They’re (AFC Wimbledon) bringing 1,200. It’ll be a great atmosphere. And hopefully we give the fans plenty to cheer about.”
Kick-off is at 15:00, with a sell-out crowd expected.
Fans are encouraged to bring their Harry Haddocks along, with the club also donating an additional 2,000 free Haddocks to supporters for the game.
