Rail disruption expected during £1m level-crossing works

Trains between Cleethorpes and Barnetby will experience disruption as an improvement scheme costing almost £1 million gets underway in Lincolnshire.

Works will impact four level crossings in Lincolnshire – Holton le Moor, Brigg, Butterswood and Little London – between Friday 31 May and Sunday 8 June.

According to Network Rail, the project aims to improve safety and reliability for road and rail users. Improvements will include surface renewal work, including the replacement of deck units, cill beams tarmac and road markings.

Motorists have been advised to allow more time for travelling, while a rail replacement bus service will replace trains between Cleethorpes and Barnetby for the duration of the works. Train users have been instructed to check before travelling.

Network Rail said the upgrades will make “future maintenance more efficient and cost-effective”

Robin Stevens, asset engineer for Network Rail, said: “We understand that level crossing closures cause disruption and we thank the local community for their patience while we carry out these essential upgrades. This significant investment will deliver more reliable infrastructure, requiring less frequent maintenance in the future and helping to keep both road and rail users safe.”
