Stagecoach offers free travel for armed forces on VE Day

Stagecoach will provide free bus travel on Thursday 8 May to serving military personnel, veterans, and cadets in honour of VE Day.

The event marks the anniversary of Victory in Europe, and commemorates the end of World War II on 8 May 1945.

Eligible individuals – those in uniform, carrying military ID, wearing a veteran’s badge or medal, or cadets in uniform – can travel for free on all Stagecoach services across the East Midlands area.

The company has a longstanding tradition of supporting the Armed Forces community, previously offering free travel during Armed Forces Weekends and Remembrance events.

Matt Cranwell, Managing Director at  Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “We’re incredibly proud to employ many veterans, and it’s a privilege to recognise the bravery and dedication of our Armed Forces, cadets, and veterans. Offering free travel on VE Day 80 is a small gesture of appreciation for the enormous contribution made by our service men and women, past and present.”
