Success as ducklings rescued from drain

Last week a dramatic rescue saw 11 ducklings rescued from down a drain.

Volunteers from Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue were notified a mother duck had lost all of her ducklings down a drain.

On Friday 2nd May, after a resident heard the calls of the ducklings, the rescue was called.

According to information shared by the rescue, when volunteers arrived the mother duck was still nearby and was ‘gently contained.’

One by one, her 11 ducklings were safely recovered and the rescue said many were already caught by the resident before volunteers arrived.

Due to the cold conditions in the drain, the decision was made to admit the whole family for a short stay to ensure ‘none of them have suffered any ill effects from their ordeal.’

Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue said on social media:

“They’ll be back on their journey very soon!”

“A huge thank you to the caring resident and our amazing team.”
