A local charity branch that supports elderly people has closed as a result of “severe financial challenges”.
Age UK Lindsey provided support to various communities across Lincolnshire for the past 35 years.
It ceased operations yesterday, Friday 2 May, following a series of cost increases that began during the pandemic. They also cited factors such as the recent increase in National Insurance and the minimum wage as having “placed huge pressure on available resources”.
A spokesperson for the organisation said: “We are deeply saddened that it has come to a closure decision and understand that this news is upsetting for everyone involved.
“Our number one priority is how older people in the area can be supported and we are working closely with our local partner Age UK Lincoln and South Lincolnshire, looking at the best ways this can be achieved.”
Age UK’s Lincoln and South Lincolnshire are unaffected.
