A major bank is closing branches across the UK, including one in Louth.
The Mercer Row branch will shut for good today, Wednesday May 7.
The move is part of a wider plan by Lloyds Banking Group to close 136 branches nationwide, with the majority of closures happening between May 2025 and March 2026.
Lloyds has attributed the closures to the growing shift from in-person banking to mobile services for daily transactions. According to the bank, branch activity has dropped by an average of 48% over the past five years.
It is understood that staff affected by the closures have been offered alternative roles within the company.
The bank is one of three banks in the town which have recently announced plans to shut.
