Man sentenced and banned from North Lincolnshire shops

A North Lincolnshire man has been sentenced to 10 weeks in prison and banned from remaining in any shop in the area if asked to leave.

Nigel Sims, 37, appeared at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 6 May, where he was found guilty of three counts of shop theft related to incidents in the Barton area between Friday 25 April and Tuesday 29 April.

His 10-week sentence was suspended for eight months. In addition, Sims was handed a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

Under the order, he must leave any retail premises in North Lincolnshire immediately if asked by an authorised person and is prohibited from entering the Co-op on Market Lane, Tesco on Malkin Road, or visiting George Street in Barton.

PC Joanne Skinner of Humberside Police said: “If he is found guilty of breaching the order, he could be liable to a fine, imprisonment or both. If you see him do anything that is against the order, please get in touch.

“This CBO is another great example of the action we are taking to tackle crime in Barton, and I hope it serves as a warning to anyone else that is considering committing offences, we will not tolerate it.”
