B&M to replace former Wilko store

A new B&M store is set to open in the former Wilko unit on Eastgate in Louth, bringing a boost to the area.

The store, scheduled to open on Friday 16 May, will create approximately 40 new jobs.

The building has undergone a series of internal and external refurbishments to prepare it for its new tenant. It has stood vacant since September 2023, when Wilko ceased trading following the company’s collapse. Before Wilko, the unit was home to Woolworths, which closed when the retail chain entered administration.

The store manager said: “We’re feeling extremely positive about the creation of more jobs for local people, and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.

“We are all really excited to get the doors open and welcome new customers through the door.”

“Once open, customers can expect to find a wide variety of branded groceries in the unit, including a range of food, drink and pet food.”

An official opening ceremony with a ribbon cutting will take place next Friday at 8AM.
