North East Lincolnshire Council has announced that refurbishment work will soon begin at the Freshney Place car park.
The council purchased the building for £16.5 million in August 2022. At that time, it was identified that the site’s two car parks – which together provide 849 spaces – required substantial repairs.
Work is now scheduled to start on Monday 12 April. Planned improvements include concrete repairs, resurfacing, upgrades to the lighting system, and the installation of new perimeter fencing on the top levels of the west car park to enhance safety. Additional parking spaces will also be created as part of the refurbishment.
Councillor Phillip Jackson, Leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, stated that funds have been “ringfenced to invest back into the structure of the building.”
The council has said that steps will be taken to minimise disruption while the work is carried out.
