Grimsby Town Football Club Chair Andrew Petitt has shared his thoughts on the season just gone, highlighting the team’s progress and expressing his hopes for the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.
In a statement released by Grimsby Town Chair Andrew Petitt, he credited the players, Manager David Artell and staff at the club for their achievements throughout the season.
He wrote: “Despite this, we are not satisfied and plans are already advancing to continue this improvement into next season. Whilst many thanks and good wishes go to the players who contributed in the 2024-25 season who are moving on to pastures new, we are excited by the quality of the players on the retained list, which is the best I can remember in many years.”
The statement also recognised key developments across other areas of the club, particularly the Foundation and the women’s team: “The Grimsby Town Foundation also engaged with thousands of young people across our community, helping to develop the skills of female footballers through our Emerging Talent Centre (where there are some talented prospects), delivered mental health workshops to local people with former player Nathan Arnold and launched sessions for local SEND children in partnership with England Football.”
He continued: “Our women’s team finished 3rd in tier six having challenged at the top of the league all season. Their increasing professional approach on and off the pitch has been excellent.”
“I would like to record a huge thank you to our valuable sponsors who have continued to support us during the season. These contributions are not taken for granted and the additional exposure generated for the Club through the new Sky Sports deal which was meant we have featured live over 20 times in the 2024-25 season should only heighten the commercial opportunity offered by partnering with your club.
“On behalf of the whole Mariners board, we hope you enjoy summer, get a well-earned rest, and return to Blundell Park in August in fine voice, ready for a brand new season.”
