New RNLI lifeboat station marks major milestone

The RNLI’s new lifeboat station in Cleethorpes has reached a significant milestone with the arrival of the organisation’s new lifeboat.

The long-anticipated, multi-million-pound facility is set to open this summer. In recent months, key construction phases have been completed, and the final touches are now being installed as the crew prepare to move in. The latest additions also include two new tractors that will be trialled for launch and recovery operations.

Once operational, the new station will enhance the RNLI’s ability to respond more swiftly and effectively to a wider range of incidents and weather conditions. The facility will also support the deployment of a second lifeboat.

Announcing the update on social media, an RNLI spokesperson wrote: “While the finishing touches are being completed on our new station, our new lifeboat arrived today, Atlantic 85 class ‘Loving You’ along with two tractors to trial for launch and recovery.

“Over the coming weeks, RNLI coastal staff will be assessing which design of tractor is best suited to the conditions on our beach here in Cleethorpes before deciding which to leave with us to begin the training of our volunteer team here on station.”

Last month the RNLI confirmed that official opening ceremonies are expected to take place this summer.
