Search underway after ‘man seen by the water’ in Cleethorpes

A search operation is ongoing in Cleethorpes after reports of a man seen by the water near the promenade.

It is understood that HM Coastguard and RNLI crews were called to the scene at around 1:20pm on Thursday 23 May, following concerns raised by members of the public.

A coastguard helicopter is currently sweeping the area, and lifeboats have been deployed as part of the search effort.

A HM Coastguard spokesperson said: “HM Coastguard is responding to a report of concern made at about 1.20pm on 22 May for a male seen by the water at Cleethorpes promenade.

“An HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter has been sent as well as Cleethorpes Coastguard Rescue Team.”

The RNLI has also been approached for a comment.
