Travellers set up camp at Grimsby park

A group of travellers that has been moving around North East Lincolnshire over the past few days has now set up camp for the fourth time.

They were initially parked on land off Moody Lane in Grimsby, before relocating to the rear of Parkway Cinema in Cleethorpes.

Yesterday, officers from Humberside Police and North East Lincolnshire Council blocked access to several other car parks in the area as the travellers were evicted, aiming to prevent them from moving onto council-managed sites.

By the afternoon, the group had vacated the site and moved onto a car park on Orwell Street.

At the time, a spokesperson for North East Lincolnshire Council said: “We are aware that the group has moved onto public land just off Cleethorpe Road. We will be serving notice to move as soon as we can.”

It is understood that the group has since relocated to Sutherland Park, just off Victor Street, where a total of nineteen caravans are now parked.
