Man hospitalised after stabbing in Cleethorpes

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a stabbing in Cleethorpes.

Emergency services were called to Brereton Avenue at around 8.20pm on Saturday 31 May, after reports of an altercation between two men. A 28-year-old man was found at the scene with a stab wound and was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are serious but not believed to be life-threatening.

The second man reportedly fled the scene.

Detective Sergeant Sacha Harvey said: “I understand an incident of this nature will be concerning for the local community; however, I want to offer my reassurance that we believe this to be an incident between individuals known to each other.

“Enquiries remain ongoing, including house to house enquiries, and trawling CCTV to establish the full circumstances.

”From enquiries carried out so far, we have identified a person believed to be involved in the incident and arrest attempts are ongoing.

“If you believe you have any information, and, in particular, dashcam footage or CCTV from the area around the time the incident occurred, please call our non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference 25*74399.”

A Humberside Police spokesperson added: “Alternatively, you can report anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
