Police warn of delays as abnormal load leaves Immingham

Police have warned of delays as an abnormal load leaves Immingham Docks.

The load, which is a haulier moving large bridge sections weighing 229 tonnes, will travel along the A180 to the A15 southbound, and onto the A46 towards Newark where the route will continue onto the A1.

It is expected to depart Immingham Docks at around 11AM tomorrow, Sunday 8 June.

Motorists have been warned to expect delays.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “It will be travelling at around 35 to 45mph, so expect delays. The final destination will be Birmingham.

“The route is approved by National Highways and is specifically for high/ heavy  loads where a more direct route isn’t feasible for abnormal loads of this size.

“We know it can be frustrating being delayed on the road, and we thank you for your patience.”
