Plans to convert the former Cleethorpes police station into housing have sparked renewed concerns from residents and agencies.
The site on Princes Road has remained vacant since January 2020, when Humberside Police relocated to The Knoll. It was later sold to a developer who proposed creating 10 apartments and 11 houses on the site.
Since the plans were unveiled, objections have been raised over traffic, parking, and the potential impact on the area’s heritage. A petition against the development has gathered more than 100 signatures.
More recently, proposals to demolish a modern extension of the building to make way for ten semi-detached houses have been recommended for refusal, following concerns about flood risks.
Under the plans, surface water would be discharged into the foul sewer system due to a lack of alternative options – an approach considered a last resort under sustainable drainage guidelines. Both Anglian Water and the Environment Agency have lodged objections as a result.
A final decision on the application is expected on Wednesday 11 June.
