Regions first IKEA outlet to open this month

IKEA’s first-ever outlet in the Humber region is set to open its doors later this month.

Located at Kingston Retail Park in Hull, the new Plan & Order Point store marks a significant step in the retailer’s expansion plans. Work began in March and is now nearing completion.

Currently, the closest IKEA stores are in Leeds and Sheffield. Unlike those larger sites, this compact outlet will focus on personalised kitchen and storage planning services. It will also serve as a collection point for online orders and stock a limited range of home furnishing products.

The store will open its doors for the first time at 9AM on Thursday 19 June.

In an earlier statement, IKEA said the move forms part of its wider strategy to improve accessibility for customers in areas without a full-sized store.

Martyn Allan, IKEA area manager, added: “We are thrilled to introduce a slice of Swedish design and affordable home solutions to a new area of the UK. Our Plan and Order Points are the perfect place for customers to design their dream kitchen or storage solutions without breaking the bank.

“Beyond planning, these locations serve as an ideal hub for assisting individuals who live a distance from our Leeds and Sheffield stores, whether they’re looking to order a new sofa, bed, or any other IKEA product.”

The development is understood to have created thirteen new jobs.
