Lincolnshire & Notts Air Ambulance is set to double its fleet with a new £7 million helicopter to meet growing demand.
The service currently responds to around four life-threatening emergencies a day across a 3,500 square-mile area. With call-outs rising by 135% over the past five years, the number of “missed missions” has also increased.
A second helicopter would boost capacity to “reach more patients, respond to more emergencies, and save more lives,” a spokesperson said.
So far, £4 million has been raised, with the charity now appealing for help to raise the remaining £3 million.
In a statement, Medical Director Gareth Davies said: “A second aircraft is a game-changer for patients and for us as we expand to be able to be by the side of more patients.”
