Humber Rescue marks 50th call-out of the year

Independent lifeboat charity Humber Rescue has responded to its 50th emergency call-out of 2025 following a busy 24 hours on the Humber Estuary.

The volunteer-run service, which averages around 110 rapid response missions annually, was called into action three times on Monday 10 June.

The first tasking came at 7.54pm, when Humber Coastguard alerted the team to an incident on the River Humber. The second and third incidents followed shortly after, all within the same vicinity.

Multiple agencies were involved in the operations, including Hull Coastguard Rescue Team, Hornsea Rescue Team, and HM Coastguard units from Withernsea and Cleethorpes.

Thankfully, all incidents were safely resolved and crews were stood down by 9.45pm after cleaning, refuelling, and preparing the lifeboat for future service.

Humber Rescue, formed in 1989 and based on the Humber Estuary, carries out vital search and rescue work year-round. The charity relies entirely on donations and costs around £60,000 a year to operate.
